On a trip to my local mall, I noticed a new kiosk which advertised an alternative method to facial hair removal. Normally when I am in need of grooming my brows, I would simply head over to the Benefits counter for a quick wax session. But I became intrigued with this technique of threading, or khite as it is often referred to. So what is threading exactly?
Threading is a technique that has been around for many hundreds of years, and continues to be a traditional method of hair removal in parts of Asia and the Middle East. Recently, it has become a popular trend for removing hair. You may have seen it done on an episode or two of America's Next Top Model. Currently, this method is practiced in ethic salons and salons specializing in natural hair removals.
Threading involves quickly rolling a twisted piece of thread back and forth across clean skin. Hairs become trapped in the string and are ripped out or break off. This process generally needs to be done by a professional, since speed and technique are important - although there are Khite kits out there if you want to learn how to do it yourself. Someone who has done the process many times can manipulate the string
