This weekend I took a trip down to the local Walmart and noticed that they were having a sale on Vo5 Moisture Milk Conditioners. Lately, I've been sticking to black hair care products such as Mizani for maintaining my hair. Nevertheless, I looked for my old favorite, Strawberries and Cream, but they were not carrying it for some reason. I opted for the next best thing, the Passion Fruit Smoothie Conditioner. This evening I tested out the product during my co-wash process and let's just say I will be heading back to Walmart tomorrow to pick up a couple of extra bottles!.The conditioner itself is a bit on the runny side, but I like it because the consistency makes it easier to lather and penetrate my scalp and hair more evenly. The smell is fragrant and amazing! I am currently transitioning from natural to relaxed hair, and my hair felt incredibly soft! This product definately delivers. My hair felt revitalized. I will definatley include this product in my weekly regimen.

Product Ingredients:Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Stearalkonium Chloride, Stearyl Alcohol, Steareth-21, Glyceryl Stearate, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract, Soy Molk, Passiflora Incarnata Flower Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Biotin, Niacinamide, Polysorbate 20, Ascorbic Acid, Panthenol, Propylene Glycol, Dmdm Hydantoin, Disodium Edta, Fragrance (Parfum), Red 40 (Ci 16035), Red 4 (Ci 14700), Orange 4 (Ci 15510)
My hair has been really dry lately, so I picked up some Unrefined Shea Butter from my local Beauty Supply store. I had never applied 100% natural Shea Butter directly to my hair before, so I was curious to see how my hair would respond to it. The brand that I purchased is made by RA Cosmetics, and is the 100% Natural African Shea Butter. It came in an 8 Oz. jar and is yellow in color. Its form is not liquid, but more like refrigerated butter. Once you run your fingers across it, you'll notice how soft and smooth it actually is; not greasy. The scent was natural and nutty. Shea butter that has an unpleasant odor should not be used in the hair, it is a sign of aging. Unrefined Shea Butter varies in color and scent depending on where it comes from.
I applied the Shea Butter to my hair along with some 100% natural Coconut Oil after washing. The result- soft, manageable, and detangled hair! I'm so happy with this product. I really like the fact that it absorbs almost immediately into my hair without leaving it feeling greasy like other products. It's also multi-functional! Shea Butter can be used for other purposes besides hair such as:
1. Treatment of dry skin, eczema, and minor burns.
2.Pain relief from swelling and arthritis.
3. Improves muscle relaxation and stiffness.
4. Sunscreen, due to its rich content of viatmins E&F.
5. Treats dark spots, skin discolorations, stretch marks, wrinkles and blemishes.
6. Massages, diaper rash, and as a hair conditioner.
I am definately adding this to my list of must-haves!
After reading rave reviews regarding Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding, I finally decided to take the plunge and make the investment to try it out. You'll notice that i said "investment." Just one 16 oz. jar of Curly Pudding will set a Sista back at least $38.00 plus shipping. Now, they do have smaller sizes for those on a tighter budget, but I figured that if it worked the way it claimed to, that I didn't want to have to pay the additional shipping costs for more.
My goals for using this product was to increase the flexibility of styling when it comes to my extremely kinky/curly hair. I wanted the ability to wear my hair curly without too much shrinkage and increase the moisture of my oftentimes dry hair. Their claim to eliminate frizz was an added plus!
After waiting nearly a month for my product, (wasn't happy about that) I finally received it and was so excited to receive the package that although it was the middle of the day, I decided that my hair needed styling right then and there! Although the product also comes with a step by step tutorial on how to successfully apply the Curly Pudding, I decided to venture online to see a live demonstration on YouTube.
My first attempt was not very successful. I think that I applied too much product because it was extremely flaky when it dried. The following attempt was much better. I really like the way my curls are more defined and soft after using the product. If you are looking to purchase this product, I would highly recommend it. It works really well for twist-out styles too. The nice thing is that you can style your hair on Sunday and where it curly for a few days without having to re-apply too much product.

After spending countless hours scouring the messageboards and YouTube blogs online searching for a new regimen to try for my transitioning hair, I ran across a YouTube blog by a vivaciously entertaining southern woman named Ateyaa. Aparently, she is quite popular within the healthy hair care blog community. Nevertheless, one of her initial videos introduced me to the Aphogee product line. I had seen some of their products before on the shelves of local beauty supply stores, however, I had never really considered trying any of their products until now.
After reviewing Ateyaa’s video, I decided to conduct a little research of my own regarding the product line and experiences of others who have tried this line in the past . Overall, the initial results appeared to be favorable. A continuing theme that I recognized was that after several months of following this hair regimen, most women switched over to something else. It appears that simply following this regimen without the proper conditioning agents can actually break your hair over time due to the excessive amount of protein your hair will become exposed to. If you are currently following this regimen, or thinking about following this regimen, be sure to add moisture back into your hair using moisturizing and hydrating conditioners. I will be experimenting with this regimen over the next few weeks, adding a few adjustments along the way. I purchased the Two-Step Protein Treatment, Balancing Moisturizer, and Style & Wrap Mousse at my local beauty supply for only $21.99 for everything!
Apparently Aphogee has packaged these products together as a Buy 1 get 2 FREE deal. Normally the Two-Step Protein Treatment alone can cost upwards of $19.99. Stay Tuned…
Without prior knowledge of Paul Mitchell or any of their line of products, I decided to test their newest line of smoothing products, Super Skinny®. I have relaxed hair that is a mixture of both straight and wavy. Here are the products that I purchased along with their proclaimed attributes:
Super Skinny® Daily Shampoo
Super Skinny® Daily Treatment
Super Skinny® Serum
To begin, I applied the shampoo to my hair and rinsed immediately. I didn’t need to repeat this step as I did not have much product bulild up in my hair. One of the benefits that I found using this product is that the shampoo lathers well. Usually, I would have to use an ample amount of product to get my desired lather, however, only a small amount of this product is necessary. The smell is fantastic! Its refreshing scent is also an added bonus. I noticed that after the first shampoo, my hair felt clean, not stripped and had a healthy shine to it prior to applying the conditioner.
Next I followed up with the Super Skinny® Daily Treatment. Similar to the shampoo, the conditioner had a refreshing scent and a nice consistency. I applied a generous amount to my towel-dried hair and let it penetrate for about 5-10 minutes. Afterwards, I rinsed with cool water and towel-dried my hair once again. Immediately, I could see the difference! My hair looked and felt healthier! It was smooth, and soft with a ridiculous amount of shine! I was so excited! Finally, I applied the Super Skinny® Serum to my hair and combed through with a wide-toothed shower comb. Because I wanted to see if these products actually reduced the drying time, I blew-out my hair following this step. Usually, I allow my hair to air dry for a while or sit under the hair dryer. The normal dry time is about 15-20 minutes using a standard hand-held dryer because of the thickness of my hair. With this product, it only took about 5-10 minutes! The final result, smooth, silky and soft hair! Although, I loved the results, I would not use it on a regular basis, as I prefer my hair to have more body. This is an excellent product for you ladies, or gentlemen who want bone-straight, shiny locs! Where to find this product: You can purchase this product online or at your local Paul Mitchell Beauty Salons. · Tip: Professional products can be a bit pricey, so I recommend heading down to your local Sally’s Beauty Supply Store and picking up the Generic version. It works just like the name brand! Different packaging, same ingredients! Shh… it’s a secret!
